There was a week that just flew by and before we know it, it’s Sunday night and I’ve got to get to the tunes! Not enough time for any other posts in the last week but hopefully I’ll catch up a bit over the next few days. I’ve also decided to undertake my Project Management Professional certification so somewhere between all this nonsense, I should probably study every now and then 🙂
Moving on to the normal review. I continued recovery from the Salt Lake City marathon with 2-3 mile daily runs, mainly to keep moving and keep the run streak going. Given that I am now in a short-cycle training period, about 2 weeks recovery time is all I can afford, so hopefully that will work. Today, I went out for my first run of any distance since the marathon, finishing 10 miles on a warm and sunny day on the trail. It felt pretty good and I managed to keep my pace in check at what should be my long slow run pace of around 9:45. Training for Rock ‘N Roll Seattle has officially started! This will be my 3rd RnR Seattle but first time taking on the full marathon at this event.
The highlight of our week(end) was a great day out in Seattle yesterday. Wifey has a real nice post of Seattle Date Day. I’ll just throw in a few pics before we get to the tunes!
We took in a Sounders match at Century link and had a lot of fun though we baked a bit high up in the ‘Hawks nest. Love visiting the home of our Seattle Seahawks and Sounders! Wasn’t the best match, I’ve ever been to and even found myself grumbling a bit about how rubbish we were playing at times, only for the guy who I had been moaning about half the game to pop up and knock in the winner with a minute to go…one Jordan Morris, there’s only one Jordan Morris….up the Sounders!
After the match, we headed into Seattle in search of much needed hydration and nutrition.
Pike Place Market is also, conveniently, the home of the Pike Place Brewing company which have a fabulous menu to go along with the great beer and drinks. We had not been to the restaurant before, although I regularly sample their brewery products on a Friday night. An awesome burger and roasted vegetable quesadillas accompanied the drinks to wrap up a great day!
If you get a chance to visit Seattle, this is an absolute must stop for an awesome beer or cocktail with a great choice of food. If you are coming into town and need some recommendations or would like to say hello, we’d love to hear from you!

Week 10 Reader Picks
So many great comments and shoutouts to Prince in the tribute last week.
*Prince/Raspberry Beret from Chelsea at The Dancing Runner
*Prince/Lets Pretend We’re Married, Morris Day and The Time/Jungle Love from Wifey at Never A Dull Bling
*Prince/I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man from Jen – sorry Jen but I didn’t catch the link to your site – feel free to call it out in the comments anytime!
I think the general consensus was that most people could post an entire greatest hit’s album of Prince selections. Thanks to Sarah at Running on Healthy and Mike at Alittebitoutoffocus for also joining in the conversation in the comments!
This week’s pick is a fun one…just a lighthearted tune with a fun running beat that gives me a smile. It’s probably a bit overplayed, but for a while these guys were a top band and I have several of their tunes on my playlists.
Train – 50 Ways to Say Goodbye
Mariachi band and the ‘Hoff singing into a piece of corn…and a tip-tapity beat 🙂
- Any tunes from Train make your playlist? Not a fan, no worries, anything goes on Motivational Music Monday, so give us a pick for the playlist this week!
- What race/event are you training for right now?
‘Till next time,
Run safe, run strong, run happy!
