Motivational Music Monday #13

By | May 15, 2016

What time is it? What time is it? What time is it?  Sunday night, Pacific Time (no no no, boooooooo), but it is time for Motivational Music Monday, edition number 13, yayyyy!!!

Post-race celebration

We’ll get to the tunes quickly but this past week has just one of those great weeks…they don’t come around too often and human nature often causes us to emphasize the bad stuff.  There is no problem with that and having a social or community outlet really helps when dealing with the day-to-day issues of life or training or running or whatever may be hurting.  But, sometimes things just rock and it’s OK to shout those out too.  This past week was one of those rockin’ weeks, and I’m thinking it all started with the great birthday evening Wifey threw for me on Tuesday.  I wrote about a lot of that on my Thoughts from Friday the 13th so won’t repeat all that here.  If you had a great week feel free to tell us all about it though!  Here’s to you and your next great week.

Post-race celebration

Rock ‘N Roll Seattle is now barely over 30 days away so running distances are increasing at the weekend.  Today was one of those overcast, light-rain sorta drizzly dreary days in the Pacific Northwest – perfect for 16 miles of hills around Lake Stevens.

Overall it was a good run and I want to get some time on the rollers before the 26.2 in Seattle.

Time to get our groove on, or something like that…

Week 12 Reader Picks

Here are the selections from the readers last week along with the links to their awesome blogs.  To get your own MMM shoutout, just add a song in the comments.

  • Boyz II Men/A Song for Mama from Wifey at Neveradullbling
  • Havanna Brown/Warrior, Green Day/Basket Case, and 2 Unlimited/Twilight Zone from Tracy at One Step at a Time

Also a shout out to Jane at JaneRunsWild for joining in the conversation as well…see, you don’t even have to select a song to make the prestigious MMM shoutout list 🙂

We need more music contributions though so don’t be shy – one of these weeks, I will figure out the blog linkup thing but the comments are open.

Week 13 Selection

This week, we are heading to the mid-nineties for a relatively unappreciated band that had some great tunes and hits, not to mention one of the best Bond Movie themes and videos…ever (I’ll let you Google that one).  When this song comes on when I’m out running in the rain it gives me a smile and a pick-me-up.  Love the edgy vocals and tone on this song and many others from this band.

Garbage – Only Happy When it Rains

Funnily enough, PK is almost figuring out the 90’s grunge/alternative era – she (eventually) called out a Pearl Jam song during happy hour Friday 🙂

  • Do you have a favorite 90’s tune that picks you up during your workout?  Any genre is appropriate so shout it out!
  • If not, that’s fine…anything is fair game on Motivational Music Monday so share with us so we can all check out some new tunes!

‘Till next time,

Run safe, run strong, run happy!

Cheers!
James

Hi Renee…thank you so much for stopping by and making a pick!! And, yes we love our Bond movies and the theme songs that go with them…not that this was one, but this band did a great job on The World is Not Enough – the video is something else! Will be adding your Vance Joy to the reader shoutout list next week!!
