Motivational Music Monday #14

Squatters Pub Salt Lake City 2016 JamesIt’s Sunday night and another weekend in the books, which can mean but one thing left to do, other than enjoy the incredible Asian Sesame Toasted marinated shrimp that we just took off the grill (shoulda taken a picture but didn’t but I can assure you, they were good!!).  Food aside, the other Sunday night task at hand is to write the Motivational Music Monday blog post!!  These really are a lot of fun and I appreciate all the views and comments.  A few more song picks would be great but of course there just only so much time to fit in reading, writing, running, working, and doing life stuff…still, if you got a tune rockin’ your world you know what to do in the boxes below!

This has been another busy but fun week though unfortunately there just hasn’t been enough time to write a new post…that happens once in a while and like most everyone else, sometimes the blog just has to wait a few days.  Here’s a few highlights from the past week, some of which I’ll elaborate on in some articles over the next few weeks!

I quit my job…not something you do too often – at least I don’t.  In the last 20 years this is only the third time I’ve handed in my resignation.  Despite working for a one of the leading medical providers in the entire Pacific Northwest, I’ve been a bit unsettled and received a fabulous offer to take a new position with a reasonably well known coffee company based in Seattle.  I’m very grateful for the year or so that I have spent with the amazing staff at UW Medicine but I’m super excited about my next opportunity.

According to the rave green countdown ticker on the sidebar, Rock ‘N Roll Seattle is now just 25 days away!!  It begins a crazy sequence of 2 marathons in 3 weeks followed by my first ultra a month later.  Today, was my longest planned training run at 20 miles, and I won’t deny it hurt, but hurt so good to get it done.

Mum is heading over from the Motherland (UK) on Wednesday for her annual visit and we are super excited to see her and spend some quality time visiting and exploring this wonderful area.  Last year, we all ran the Inspiring Hope 5K/10K together…AJ’s (and Grommy’s) first ever race!

Me and Wifey celebrated our 16 year anniversary this weekend!!  We are just as happy and even closer than we were on that warm wedding day in Tucson, AZ on May 20, 2000.  PK has a great post over on her site with a few pictures from the album.

Week 13 Reader Picks

Here are the selections from the readers last week along with the links to their awesome blogs.

Noone else joined in the conversation last week…come on y’all!!

Week 14 Selection

This week’s selection, I can think of nothing more appropriate than to make a pick just for my wonderful wife, Paula (better known on this site as Wifey or PK).  I don’t mind admitting, I like several of Michael’s renditions, and have really enjoyed his concerts that we have seen in Seattle.  This selection gives you an idea of the total variation in my playlist and, as I always say, anything goes on Motivational Music Monday 🙂  I know Wifey will be singing along to this week’s selection…enjoy!

Michael Buble – Sway

Michael Buble to Metallica to Flo ‘Rida to Lady GaGa…all on my playlist so let us know what is on yours!

  • What’s your favorite guilty pleasure song or genre?  Don’t have one, no worries just shout out what is rocking your workout world so I can shout out your site next week 🙂
  • Any special songs for a special person?

‘Till next time,

Run safe, run strong, run happy!

Cheers!
James

Congratulations on all around! A new job and a 16th wedding anniversary – sounds like you have a lot to celebrate! My guilty pleasure is that I just downloaded Taylor Swift’s Mean (the live version) 🙂 My girls and I blast this song and dance to it every time it comes on the radio and I had to add it to my playlist!

Hi Katrina…thanks for stopping by, so nice to hear from you and hope everything is going well as you get ready for race week! Yes, we have had a lot to celebrate and be thankful for over the past couple weeks. Great pick with Taylor Swift and will make sure it gets added to the list next week…I’ve got all kinds of mixes in my list from crunching metal to country and everything in between, which is what makes the weekly music post so much fun!

    Congratulations on your anniversary!

My musical tastes are more metal and harder rock than yours but I really like Volbeat – A Warrior’s Call

Hey Chris…thanks for stopping by and making a pick…don’t be deceived, I like the hard stuff too growing up to the melodies of Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Def Leppard, Scorpians, Priest, Dio and a few other crunchers! I just mix it up a bit more these days! Enjoying tracking your run streak and adventures on twitter, look forward to your blog updates too…Cheers!

for some reason you aren’t showing up on my reader anymore. I thought you quit posting. Going to have to find the problem

that’s interesting Robert and thanks for letting me know…i’m wondering if the issue is with my site. It seems like my normal reader comments and hits have been way down the past couple weeks. Mine is a self-hosted site with a WordPress platform and I think that limits how my site shows in the WordPress reader. I will look into it some more for sure!
